With all of America's big talk and hero complex, his one true weakness is ghosts and scary movies. An odd thing to bring America to his knees, but because of his unrelenting hero views of himself, he continues to put himself though the pain of horror movies, with the same results again and again.

This is probably best first seen in the strips: America’s Situation with Ghosts. He invites Japan over to sit with him to watch a scary movie. Japan is confused over this, because its obvious how scared America is already before even watching the movie but won't give up on wanting to watch it. Of course, it ends with America being scared out of his mind over something hardly scary at all but still continues to want to watch and play more scary things, and denies he has a fear at all.

Though with his fear of ghosts and spirits, he seems to embrace the Halloween holiday. In the Merry Halloween strips, he's all into decorating his house up for the the festivities and making pumpkins.

Here we are also giving in-sight to the basis of America's fears. It seems England has traumatized him as a child, enjoying scaring a young America every year around Halloween. Because of this, America and England have begun to try to see who can scare each other more come the 31st each year.

Halloween is also the only time America is able to see fairies and other unknown beings which England is able to all the time.
